- A little sneak peek into dynamic pages

What is a CMS and Why Do You Need It?

A Content Management System (CMS), also known as a Content Management Platform, is a software application that allows users to create, manage, and display dynamic content on their websites. It helps streamline the process of updating, organizing, and structuring content, making it an indispensable tool for designers and creators.

By having an intuitive CMS like that of Editor X, you can create and manage a wide variety of content types, from blog posts to testimonials, events, and more, without having to worry about your site's structure or overall design. This not only saves you a ton of time but also enables you to focus on more creatively demanding tasks.

Modeling and Displaying Content Using the CMS

Editor X's CMS allows you to create, organize, and structure the content on your website with ease. To add a new visual model, simply click on the '+ Add Collection' button, input the collection's name, and get to work on defining the structure and design you want. Furthermore, you can connect many different content types (e.g., text, images, documents), enabling endless design possibilities.

In the live demonstration, we created a collection for study materials on thelearndeck.org, demonstrating the CMS's flexibility and adaptability in managing complicated structures and designs with ease.

Creating Content Collections and Connecting them to Repeaters

Editor X's powerful repeater feature allows you to create a single layout for a group of elements, such as blog posts or thumbnails, and then apply that layout to multiple pieces of content. To use the repeater feature, simply drag and drop a repeater component from the add panel, connect it to the desired content collection, and voila! Your content appears in a uniform and dynamic manner that is easy to manage and control.

As shown in the webinar, we connected our Study Materials collection to a repeater, ensuring that all our study materials can be displayed consistently on our site, making it a more visually attractive and organized experience for the users.

User-Generated Content and Form Submissions

Another significant advantage of using Editor X's CMS is the ability to easily collect and manage user-generated content (UGC), such as form submissions, comments, or reviews. By setting up a form, you can direct users to submit their content, which then is automatically added to a specific collection in your CMS. This simplifies the process of curating UGC, enabling seamless integration with your site's design and content strategy.

During the demo, we showed how to create a form for users to submit their study materials and connected it to our Study Materials collection through form settings, ensuring that submissions would be directly added to the appropriate collection within our CMS.

A Sneak Peek Into Dynamic Pages

Dynamic pages provide another layer of customization to your website, allowing you to create and display an individual page for each item in your content collection without having to create a unique page for every item manually. With Editor X's CMS, you can automatically generate dynamic pages for every item in a collection, simplifying the process of managing and displaying content.

While the full exploration of dynamic pages will be covered in part two of this series, we did showcase the process of setting up dynamic pages and connecting them to content collections during the webinar.

Final Thoughts

With Editor X's powerful CMS, you'll be able to create, organize, manage, and display dynamic content on your site with ease. From user-generated content to dynamic pages, the benefits of using a cutting-edge CMS cannot be overstated.
